| OUR MISSION
Late one night this year, following a thought-provoking dialogue, Pastor Troy Sanders was awakened from his sleep with an inspired realization.
He felt the spirit of God descend upon him with a purposeful calling.
His divine purpose, as it was revealed to him, was to minister to those
who were oppressed and in need of inspiration and affirmation through
non-conventional religious means. How would he do that? That Pastor Troy
was not sure of. But what he did know was that this endeavor had to be
relevant in today’s world.
Preach2Me.com, a web-based ministry, is the result of that inspiration.
Preach2Me.com is designed to inspire the oppressed while continuing to
bridge gaps between young and old, affirming and cynical, and everything
in between.
During the conception of Preach2Me.com, Pastor Troy struggled with how
to adequately identify this progressive Internet endeavor. Would using
a traditional term like “preach” create the kind of liberating
space needed? Or would it further perpetuate the oppression often experienced
in church and church-like settings?
Embracing the term “preach” – in its intended form – is
to embrace the proclamation of truth. Using the term is an intentional
effort to reclaim its power. This website will serve to fulfill and serve
that purpose wholeheartedly.
Preach2Me.com is committed to answer the following FOUR ILLS:
- Religious oppression – “My experience with the Divine
may not look like yours.”
- Cultural oppression – “Not being judged based on cultural
origin.”
- Social oppression – “The message of love and affirmation
must touch the lives of all economic levels of existence.”
- Gender oppression – "There is room in the beloved community
for both men and women. We must address oppression inflicted by patriarchal
systems."
Inspiration and affirmation can not be confined to the four walls of
traditional churches and religious organizations. Preach2Me.com
is a space where all can come together as a spiritually cohesive unit
to share and experience inspiration.
Preach2Me.com is committed to presenting diverse, thought-provoking,
intellectual leaders, poets, activities, therapists, and theologians
from both the religious and non-religious community. These advocates
will be featured monthly on our Residence Page.
Preach2Me.com is comprised of a team of creative writers and editors
who represent diverse life experiences. Women and men, youth and adults,
have collaborated to this vision with their varied areas of expertise.
We invite all people, no matter the race, social class or denomination,
to get what they need from this site. This space will also be an open
forum to critical assessment and debate.
